Winter Weather

 Oh my goodness, this winter weather is for the birds.
I will be quite honest, I don’t know how those Northern bloggers do it.
{I’m looking at you, Tieka}

Honestly, though. It makes it really hard to get out of bed and even harder to put any thought or effort into an outfit knowing that I will have to stand out there in the cold for several minutes taking photos. And that is something I definitely don’t look forward to on chilly, breezy, wintery mornings like this one!

And it really doesn’t help that this past weekend was so gorgeous.
My mom made a little surprise mini-visit, as her flight was cancelled and she was re-routed to Dallas on Friday night. While she may have been bummed to miss a half day on the beach, I was excited to have her here with me for a little bit.  I miss being able to see her, so it was a nice surprise. We went out to eat and then went home and snuggled in bed and chatted about life and all of the little things.
It was short, but sweet for sure.

The rest of our weekend was made up of gloriously warm temperatures (I’m talking spring was in the air temperatures) and lots of home projects. We had been ignoring our mud room for too long, although I have had grandiose plans for it for so long now.
We finally got around to it this weekend, and I love how it turned out. Since Chad proved his worth with his handyman skills, I put him to work on a pallet board for the mud room. He measured, sawed and nailed.  I sanded.  I think we missed our calling in life as woodworkers…but it’s too late for that now.
A lot of white paint later, and we have a fun little wall in our mud room.
Still lots of work to do, but another project down.

Right now, we are picking out paint colors and getting quotes for the exterior of our house. I can’t wait to get rid of the ugly tans and browns and spruce it up with a bit of color. We will have to wait for Spring because of the temperatures, but I feel like once Spring has come, we will officially be “done” with our home.

We’ve been working really hard to add our special touches and personalities to it, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
So looking forward to Spring and all that it will bring.
Until then, I will face these brutal temperatures with layers upon layers upon layers.
