my mom is actually borrowing this dress from me this weekend for the graduation ceremony, so i hung it up on my closet door as a reminder to bring it to colorado with me.
and of course i was running late this morning…..so it is now on my body.
whoops.
 it was a top knot, grab a dress, grab a cute clutch, get my tail out the door kind of morning. usually i have a few outfits strewn across my bed waiting to be picked up after i get home from work. this little outfit, however, had to be a one hit wonder. no second chances for me today. snooze buttons should be illegal.

we just had one of those morning ”sunshine rains”.
i love those.
it’s as though the clouds get confused and accidentally spill the rain from the sky.
and the sun just keeps on shining.
and then it’s over in a matter of minutes.

makes days like this really hard to stay inside and work.

i want to go outside and explore! or read a book in a hammock and fall asleep with the sun warming my face. or canoe a lazy, winding river.
there isn’t a lure greater to me than the lure of nature.
it’s such a peaceful place.
god’s beauty is everywhere, and everything just feels momentarily….simple.

but i will just continue to longingly peer over my shoulder out the window at this gloriously sunny day. and be happy that i get an hour at lunch to tan these leggies of mine.

this cobalt blue romper from by therapy just screams my name.
i love the see through legs and how comfortable and breathable the fabric is!
it’s perfect for an eighty degree day, like today.
little side note: i would size up for length if you’re a taller gal. i’m 5’6″ and most of that height is in my legs, so just a little friendly note to my fellow leggy ladies out there.

yesterday i was on a safari, today i feel like a genie.
if i cross my arms, and wiggle my nose, do you think i could zap myself to some exotic beach with an umbrella drink in hand?

chad and i may or may not have eaten our body weight in chips & salsa yesterday.
happy cinco de mayo.
so all of that fiesta-ing obviously required an afternoon nap.
and a night spent on our homemade living room pallet we constructed on friday night that has somehow found itself still there…
 (aren’t those the best, though?)
we carry the guest room mattress to the family room, put lots of blankets and pillows on it, and settle down & snuggle deep into the comforter for a cuddly movie night.
or two movies. if we are, ya know, feeling crazy.

this morning, i have been frantically purchasing things for our europe trip. in my ultimate fantasy, it would be warm the whole time we are there, in every single city, and require no jacket or layering to keep warm.
but, i must be prepared. so i had to explain to chad that there would be a few small charges on or bank account today. you know….for “necessities”.
i can’t believe we are leaving in less than two weeks! i am kind of in a stressful, frantic packing, frantic purchasing, why am i not excited yet?!” mode. that will end approximately 5 minutes before boarding the plane, and then i will be all giggles and giddiness as we soar over the pond to our european destination.
poor chad.

anyone have any packing essentials that i may or may not have thought of?
any european travel tips?
any do’s or dont’s?
any candy?
just kidding on that last one. it’s almost lunch time and i can’t hear myself think over the rumbling of my stomach. which is frightening, as i could have fed a small family with the amount of mexican food we ate yesterday.

also, do me a favor and please ignore the ugly, large bruise on my shin. when hotels warn you of bathrooms being slippery when wet, heed their warning. trust me.

a couple of weekends ago, chad and i decided it was time to plant flowers. we are already really lucky, in that our home has several rose, hydrangea and “i don’t know what you are, but you’re really pretty and smell amazing” flowers scattered around our yard. we went to work on the flower boxes and such in the front of our house.

i love being married and enjoying these little tasks. it’s been so fun to see the seasons pass in our home since we were married last july. winter has come and gone, and now chad and i are able to enjoy planting flowers, relaxing nights outside on the front porch eating dinner, and long walks every day after work with gertie. {my favorite}

it really is such a joy. and i really do feel so blessed. especially when i look at these pictures and see how adorable our home is and how fortunate we really are.
sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the world, and forget.
God has truly blessed us in our first year of marriage,
and lately i have been feeling the pull of being content and also doing things that i have been putting off.

sketching and reading more
praying more intentionally for chad and for our future
digging into the word every morning (sometimes thats hard for bloggers. am i right?)
running every day before work
leaving my phone at home
making dinner every single night (but chipotle, you’re SO good)
and really just being less anxious about life, and being content where we are. at all times.

those are just a few personal goals, but for some reason the spring really opens up my heart and my mind. it’s such a refreshing season! and it feels so good to remind myself through writing and just in general, to slow down and enjoy every single moment. to do the things i have been putting off. and to be happy and content even when i want to be stubborn and worry or yearn for something more or different.

spring is a beautiful season, and i’m looking forward to enjoying it!

this outfit i’m wearing really mirrors my style from the later years of college.
mainly the time i spent in italy.
i wore my hair naturally curly almost every single day. usually with a braid tucked in there.
i wore peasanty shirts and jean shorts.
with an armful of leather and vintage bracelets.
i listened to a lot (i mean a LOT) of bob dylan, janis joplin, and the weepies.
i sketched a lot. (i need to do that more often)
and not to mention, thats about the time i got my first (and only) tattoo.
i was basically a walking, talking free people ad.

so this is a little throwback to my years of wandering.
honestly, i love this style the most.
it’s too bad work attire can’t look something like this.
i just like the thought of walking through fields of wildflowers all day.

i’ll just keep dreaming.
